Stir-Fried Anchovy Korean Side Dish (Myeolchi-Bokkeum)

A Sweet, Savory, Crunchy (& Gut Healthy) Snack: The Korean Side Dish I Leaned On When Dairy Wasn't An Option.

Ingredients

  • 2 C small anchovy

  • 1 TBSP grass fed beef tallow — code MUMWITHABUN

  • 1 TBSP organic garlic (minced) or 3 whole cloves

  • 1-2 TBSP raw organic honey* — code MUMWITHABUN

  • (optional) 1 TBSP raw pumpkin seeds*

Method

  • First, roast the dried anchovies over medium heat until slightly golden.

  • Sift to get the crumbs out & set aside.

  • Sautee garlic in oil over medium heat. Add anchovies back in. Mix.

  • Set aside to cool. Drizzle in raw honey.

  • Optional: add in seeds for extra crunch & nutrients.

Mix & enjoy. See video for the instructions in action!

Ingredient Notes

* Swap pumpkin seeds for sesame seeds to increase calcium intake if tolerated.

*If you have a baby <1 you can omit the honey and crush the little fish into even smaller pieces to make it an age appropriate snack.

HEALTH BENEFITS

  • All babies/toddlers need DHA (comes from fish), calcium, vitamin A, and healthy fat (ex: tallow) for their rapid development and specific nutrient needs.

  • I love using raw organic honey once the stir fry has cooled for its enzymes + minerals + vitamins + antioxidants — all things that help with immune system support, gut health, and energy. This is a huge upgrade from the gut disrupting corn/rice/high fructose corn syrups commonly used in store-bought versions.

    STORAGE

Store it in the fridge in an airtight container for a couple of weeks.
